2009 Formula 1 Grand Prix De Monaco

Jenson Button of Brawn-Mercedes F1 Team will try to defend his pacesetting standing in the 2009 Formula 1 Grand Prix De Monaco on May 24, 2009 at the Monaco’s marina.

Button leads the F1 World Drivers championship with 41 points followed by his Brawn-Mercedes teammate Rubens Barrichello at 27 points. Sebastian Vettel of RBR-Renault is in third place with 23 points after 5 major races in Australia, Malaysia, China, Bahrain, and Spain. Button was able to win first place finishes in 4 out of 5 races for the 2009 season using a Ross Brawn Mercedes F1 car.

Grand Prix De Monaco will have 78 laps of race at Monaco’s marina with circuit length of 3.340 km and a race distance of 260.520 km. Ferraris’ Michael Schumacher records the fastest lap here at Monaco in 1:14.439 hours during the 2004 season. The race will run through the city streets of Monaco and runs parallel to its bustling marina and hotels.

In the team championship points Brawn-Mercedes leads the pack with 68 points, followed in second place by RBR-Renault with 38.5 points, and Toyota holding on to the third position with 26.5 points in 5 finished races. This is Brawn-Mercedes sterling-performance season with an almost-to-perfect F1 car performance and their drivers’ precision driving.

Ferrari and McLaren-Mercedes were having troubles with their engines and team racing strategies in the past races. Both teams are still in the contention with many races still to come for the 2009 Formula 1 Grand Prix.
